Hurricane Isaias

by | 9 Oct 2026

Hurricane Isaias formed as a tropical storm in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico overnight on October 7, becoming the ninth named storm and the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. Temporarily threatening to hit the Gulf coastline as a major hurricane, the system struggled with dry air and wind shear prior to landfall and finally hit the Florida panhandle as a category 2 hurricane. In the attached article we describe how Solidum analysed the situation prior to landfall and was able to call it All-Clear well below the storm made landfall.

Pre landfall analysis in Solidum’s Cockpit tool: Shown is the projected path of the hurricane based on forecast data from NOAA’s National Hurricane Center (NHC), with significant support in this case from the AI tool DeepMind. This inputs feeds into an advanced stochastic model that analyses hurricane scenarios based on a 10,000-year simulation and quantifies the potential losses associated with exposed positions in the affected region.
